Oracle Database Administrator
This program provides the knowledge to become an Oracle 8 Database Administrator (OCDBA).
This course is divided into five areas:
1. Introduction to Oracle: SQL and PL/SQL
- Concepts of relational databases and the powerful SQL and PL/SQL programming languages.
- Create and maintain database objects and to store, retrieve, and manipulate data.
- Create PL/SQL blocks of application code.
- Demonstrations and hands-on practice reinforce the fundamental concepts.
2. Enterprise DBA Part 1A: Architecture and Administration
- Provide the necessary knowledge and skills to set up, maintain, and troubleshoot an Oracle7, Oracle8, or Oracle8i database.
- Use of administration tool to startup and shutdown a database.
- Create a database, manage file and database storage, and manage users and their privileges.
- Organize the database and to move data into and between databases, under different environments.
- Hands-on practices help to reinforce key concepts, and students have an opportunity to troubleshoot real life issues.
3. Backup and Recovery
- Planning and implementing database backup and recovery strategies.
- Backup and recovery techniques and examines various backup, failure, restore, and recovery scenarios.
- Utilize multiple strategies and Oracle tools such as Recovery Manager to perform backups, and restore and recovery operations.
- Frequently asked questions concerning backup and recovery.
4. Performance Tuning
- Series of tuning steps, which can be used to improve the performance of the Oracle8i Server.
- Practical experience tuning an Oracle database.
- Recognize, troubleshoot and resolve common performance related problems in administering an Oracle database.
- Walk through 'real-world' performance tuning scenarios including problem diagnosis and performance enhancement.
5. Network Administration
- Identify networking business trends and problems.
- Networking solutions to the business problems and trends.
- Learn about Net8 components and how to configure both a simple and more complex Net8 environment.
- Potential networking security risks and Oracle’s optional security solutions.
- Net8 debugging tools and interpretation of debugging information.
- Most common errors and how to troubleshoot an Oracle networking environment.
