Cisco Certification – Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

The CCNP certification (Cisco Certified Network Professional) indicates advanced or journeyman knowledge of networks. With a CCNP, a network professional can install, configure, and operate LAN, WAN, and dial access services for organizations with networks from 100 to more than 500 nodes, including but not limited to these protocols: IP, IGRP, IPX, Async Routing, AppleTalk, Extended Access Lists, IP RIP, Route Redistribution, RIP, Route Summarization, OSPF, VLSM, BGP, Serial, Frame Relay, ISDN, ISL, X.25, DDR, PSTN, PPP, VLANs, Ethernet, Access Lists, 802.10, FDDI, Transparent and Translational Bridging.

Course Overview:

(1) Building Scalable Cisco Networks (BSCN)
Exam 640-503

This course addresses tasks that network managers and administrators need to perform when managing access and controlling overhead traffic in growing, routed networks once basic connectivity has been established.

BSCN discusses router capabilities used to control traffic over LANs and WANs, as well as connecting corporate networks to an Internet Service Provider (ISP).

(2) Building Cisco Multilayer Switched Networks (BCMSN)
Exam 640-504

This course presents detailed information on how routing and switching technologies work together.

BCMSN discusses in-depth analysis of Layer 2 switching technologies, including Spanning Tree, VLAN technologies, frame tagging protocols, Cisco proprietary support protocols such as VTP and DTP, Layer 3 routing services provided in the campus network, including inter-VLAN routing, multilayer switching, Hot Standby Routing Protocol (HSRP), IP multicast, securing the switched campus network model, including setting passwords, local and remote login, and more.

(3) Building Cisco Remote Access Networks (BCRAN)
Exam 640-505

This course presents detailed information to build a remote access network to interconnect central sites to branch offices and home office/telecommuters.

Once the network is built, BCRAN discusses how to control access to the central site, as well as maximize bandwidth utilization over the remote links.

(4) Cisco Internetworking Troubleshooting (CIT)
Exam 640-506

The Cisco Internetwork Troubleshooting (CIT) course teaches how to baseline and troubleshoot an environment using Cisco routers and switches for multiprotocol client hosts and servers connected with the following:

  • Ethernet and Fast Ethernet LANs
  • Serial, Frame Relay, and ISDN BRI WANs
This course discusses methodical practice using specific Cisco IOS software and Catalyst software tools to diagnose and correct problems on widely installed Cisco products.
